Chiyoko is an only child, who lives with her single mother Nana. Her father past away before she was born, due to a car accident Both live in a small apartment, and due to Nana working at night, Chiyoko is usually alone at home most of the time. Even though her father belonged to a wealthy family, his parents never accepted the marriage between their son and Nana. Therefore, Nana didn't receive any money from his family after the accident, while she was still with child. But even though they didn't support her, she survived by working hard and with the support of her own family and friends. And because of this, Chiyoko dreams of one day earning enough money, so that her mom doesn't have to work anymore.
During her elementary and junior high school years she was an average student. Chiyoko is lucky to have a mom who doesn't want her to excel at everything. Instead Nana wants her only child to do what she can, so that Chiyoko can have a happy school life. Chiyoko isn't the type to be in social groups or gatherings, but she does have a few good friends who support her in her arts.
As for whether Chiyoko has had a boyfriend or not, let's just say that it's a subject that unfortunately she's failed miserably. She's had a few crushes, but those boys never even looked at her in that way. Sometimes, Chiyoko wonders if she'll ever know what it feels like to be in love. But Nana always tells her that love comes when you least expect it, and it will hit you REALLY hard.
